"I didn’t become a life coach because I have life all figured out."

Like most people, I’ve had plenty of ups and downs along the way. I’ve changed directions, pursued dreams, experienced loss, struggled with my own wellness, and had times when I needed to stop and rethink what I wanted my life to look like.

I think those experiences are part of what eventually brought me here.

I know what it’s like to want to make changes and discover that knowing what you should do and actually doing it are two very different things. I know what it’s like to struggle with weight, experience anxiety, deal with loss, adjust to change, and try to find your footing again when life doesn’t look quite the way you expected it to.

I also know that wellness isn’t something we achieve once and then check off the list.

It changes as we change.

My Journey Here

My journey to becoming a coach hasn't followed a straight line — and I'm glad it hasn't.

Over the years, I've worked in both corporate settings and higher education, with experience that includes training, adult education, instructional design, project management, problem-solving, and developing systems to help things work better. Much of that work centered around something I've always enjoyed: helping people learn, grow, make sense of complicated things, and find a way forward.

Creativity has also been an important part of my life. My journey as a songwriter taught me to pay attention, listen closely, tell stories, and put words to feelings and experiences that aren't always easy to express.

And then there is sustainability — something that has been part of who I am since I was a teenager.

I originally started college studying Environmental Resource Management. My path eventually took me in other directions, but my connection to the environment, natural living, and the idea of living more sustainably never went away. Years later, when I returned to school, different parts of my life came together in a BA in Communication and Sustainability Studies.

That interest has extended well beyond the classroom. Natural living, homesteading, sustainability, and spending time close to nature have all influenced the choices I've made and the way I've thought about what it means to live a good life.

At first glance, corporate work, higher education, songwriting, sustainability, homesteading, and now coaching might look like a collection of unrelated chapters.

To me, they aren't.

There are threads that run through all of them — people, communication, creativity, learning, problem-solving, connection, and the desire to make life a little better.

I’ve Had My Own Wellness Journey, Too

My interest in wellness isn't just professional.

I've had my own challenges with physical, spiritual, and emotional well-being. I've struggled with my weight. I've experienced anxiety. I've searched to find meaning. I've dealt with loss and grief. I've moved through different stages of life and discovered that changes in our circumstances can sometimes require us to change right along with them.

There have been times when I've felt strong and capable and times when things have been harder.

I don't share that because I think my experiences are the same as yours. They aren't. We each bring our own history, circumstances, challenges, and way of experiencing the world.

But my experiences have taught me not to assume that change is easy just because something makes sense on paper.

They've taught me that people can know what they want and still struggle to get there. That progress isn't always a straight line. That sometimes we need to adjust our expectations. That loss and change can alter what matters to us. And that there are seasons when we need to reconsider what taking care of ourselves even means.

Perhaps most importantly, they've taught me to have compassion for the person who is still figuring things out.

Because I am, too.

Why Integrative Wellness & Life Coaching

Today, I'm an Integrative Wellness and Life Coach, and a Certified Holistic Life Coach. I am currently continuing my education through the Integrative Wellness Academy (IWA), and will be beginning a new program with the Holistic Coaching Training Institute. I am always continuing to learn and grow which is something I take seriously.

Integrative wellness feels like a natural extension of everything that came before it.

I've learned through my own life that we can't always separate our mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being. What happens in one area can affect everything else.

And sometimes the thing we think we need to “fix” isn't the whole story.

That's why I want to understand the person in front of me, not just the goal they've written down on a form.

I bring my training to that relationship, but I also bring decades of living, working, learning, creating, changing direction, experiencing challenges, and figuring things out as I go.

What I don't bring is the belief that I have all the answers.

Someone in Your Corner

If you work with me, you can expect me to listen.

I'll ask questions. I'll help you sort through things when they feel complicated. I'll encourage you, celebrate your progress, help you recognize connections you may not have noticed, and sometimes challenge you to look at something differently.

But you don't have to impress me.

You don't need to show up with everything figured out. You don't have to pretend you're doing all the things you think you're “supposed” to be doing. And you don't have to worry that I'm sitting on the other side of the conversation with a perfectly balanced life wondering why you can't get yours together.

I'm a work in progress, too.

I think that's one of the wonderful things about life: we get to keep learning. We get to change direction. We get to reconsider what matters. We get to grow into new versions of ourselves while still appreciating all the experiences that brought us here.

If you're at a place in your own journey where something feels like it needs to change — whether you know exactly what that is or you're still trying to figure it out — I'd love to talk with you.

You can visit my client portal to learn more about working with me or schedule a complimentary Discovery Call.

We can start with a conversation and see if I'm the right person to walk alongside you for whatever comes next.
